Tanisha was born and raised in Philly to Jamaican parents. She graduated from Martin Luther King High school and later graduated from Rosemont College where she studied Accounting. During her time in college, she wrote many stories and poetry for her Women’s Studies classes that brought back memories of her reading and writing as a child. Tanisha’s love for writing and creating poetry began at age seven. She started by reading for hours; she never wanted to put her books down. Shortly after that passion developed, she found herself writing short stories and poems that just “popped in herhead”. Her inspiration to write Children’s books came when her mom had her little sister Zuri. Zuri challenged Tanisha to find her creativity again. Tanisha hopes to bring back the tradition of parents and kids taking the time out to read and enjoy the small things in life. Tanisha hopes her books and her story inspire others.
Tanisha Says: My first book “Zuri and the Monster” is a fun read book that explores a child’s fears and the imaginative stories children make up in the heads. After reading “Zuri and the Monster” we discuss their fears and how they can overcome those fears. Which my example is my Fear of writing my first book and how I took the leap to overcome those fears.
My Second book ” Zuri’s Day of Pranks” which was released in August 2018 is a book that shows sibling having a fun-filled day of pranks on each other and is it really fun playing a prank on someone. Both books were written to promote diversity, literacy and show kids reading can be a fundamental part of life. My children’s books are for ages 4-8 years of age, however, I find that older kids enjoy reading it as well.
